Words forReflection -TheParadox of Kindness
You’ll give your time, your care, your heart,
often to people who may never give it back.
And sometimes that hurts.
But kindness isn’t a transaction.
It's a reflection of who you are, not
what you get in return.
Because life has a strange way of circling things
back, just not from where you gave them.
The help you gave returns as grace.
The love you offered shows up as peace.
The understanding you shared comes back as clarity.
You rarely receive from the same place you gave.
But you always receive.
That’s the quiet paradox of kindness.Thanksgiving is a time when we are reminded to bethankful, grateful, and consider the blessings that abound in our lives. Here
are some reflections from various people.
"We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also make our blessings count." —Neal A. Maxwell
“Simple blessings are all around us. Once we receive them with thanksgiving and appreciation, we experience true joy.” —Krystal Kuehn
- "Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our Thanksgiving." —W.T. Purkiser
- Advent is a time for anticipating andpreparing for the coming of Christ. We can focus on this time by sharing in the
four parts of Advent. - 1st Sunday -Hope – Hope in the coming of Jesus and the love He brought to us.
- 2nd Sunday – Peace – Seeking ways to bring peace in all ways possible.
3rd Sunday – Joy - Having hope and seeking peace will bring joy.
4th Sunday – Love – Being loved by Jesus, more than all things.
- "Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our Thanksgiving." —W.T. Purkiser
Meet our Pastor: Rev. Dr Anna Crews Camphouse
Rev. Dr. Anna Crews Camphouse is a compassionate and visionary pastor who brings a wealth of experience to her ministry. With a background that spans nursing, theology, and community engagement, Anna has dedicated her life to serving others and fostering inclusive communities.
A native of Alabama, Anna began her professional journey as a registered nurse, working in intensive care, long-term acute care, and emergency settings. Her commitment to holistic care led her to pursue theological studies, earning both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Claremont School of Theology.

Currently, Anna serves as the pastor for Lakeville United Methodist Church, Sharon United Methodist Church, Canaan United Methodist Church, and Millerton United Methodist Church. She also serves as the Lead Pastor of the Northwestern Hills Cooperative Parish UMC. She and her husband, Rev. David Camphouse, who directs the Silver Lake Camp & Retreat Center, reside in Sharon with their three children: Sophia, and twins Paul and John.
